Mentor Interview
What inspired you to start mediating?
1) I always had a hunger to find more truth. I felt there was reality beyond what I experienced daily. 2) Also, I had a great deal of stress in my family life and I was highly motivated to find answers to bring more peace and harmony into my home.
I grew up with my grandmother and great aunts always looking for answers beyond the worldly plane. My mother also was deeply interested in a personal relationship to God. None of them introduced me to meditation but their desire pointed me in the direction. I, in turn, introduced meditation to my own family. Each member - my husband and three sons have an active mediation practice today.
I have gained a deep sense of connection with the Supreme Almighty. From this connection I turn within when I need answers, when I need calm, when I have emotions that block clear thinking and clear communicating with others. I have found peace. Also, there is so much more clear space within my being to receive the love that is available.
I began meditating when I was 52. I learned the Modern-Day meditation and it suited me to a tee. I have meditated regularly for 13 years.
Yes, I include meditation in my daily routine. When I wake up in the morning I sit up for 15 -30 minutes and stay open to whatever the Universe has to give me. I make notes when specific actions are given to me. Sometime during the day I will take more time to meditate - sometimes just a few minutes to calm down or an hour or two to drop deeply within.
I decided to start my own business three years ago. I used the meditation daily to help me think through the steps of starting and maintaining a business. It was very important to me to find a way to earn my own money and be in charge of my own business. It was a direction I received during meditation.
The reason I am interested in being your mentor is that I think you can change the world. I mean that most sincerely. When you are connected to the truth within you will touch people with your presence of balance and calm. Also I believe the more you listen to your internal direction you will take action that will be of service and help to others - demonstrating love and care in this world. The people of the world need care. They need to know that love is available to them. I see no better use of my time than to be of assistance to others in discovering that love and truth lies within.
